National Clinical Effectiveness Committee

A submission to the National Clinical Effectiveness Committee (NCEC) to seek national recognition for the Clinical Guideline to Prevent Falls and Fractures in Ireland’s Ageing Population using an Integrated Care Pathway Model has been achieved (March, 2013) and will need to be progressed in the coming months. The aim of this committee is to provide a framework for national endorsement of clinical guidelines and audit to optimise patient care, within the Irish health system, both public and private. The National Clinical Guideline: National Early Warning Score (NEWS) that clearly sets out how to recognise and respond to patients whose condition is deteriorating is the first guideline to achieve national endorsement. This guideline has been designed for adults in acute hospitals and is based on international evidence of what is known to work best.A submission on the Diagnosis and Management of Osteoporosis in Ireland is already being progressed through the NCEC process. Agreement has been reached that both groupings will work together to ensure synergies and opportunities for collaboration are realised. Read more about the NCEC This document opens up a new window.
